Ranger Reading Week 1

Posted by winapina on July 30, 2008

I am going to be honest. I have done my friend book all the way to my Explorer book, and I really do not do the Bible Reading Guides. So this will help me keep on track. I am doing Ranger, Voyager, and Master Guide at the same time so come back to the site to get some help, and to read along with me. All texts come from the New International Version and I use Bible Gateway for a source.

Week 40: Judgement

Revelation 6-8

I really do not know what to say. I know that these passages are prophesizing about the end of times, but it all does not make much sense to me. It is a lot of symbolism that I think a theologian would be much better at explaining.

1 Peter 4:12-19

I enjoyed this passage. It was about religious persecution. It said that although I will be mocked and made fun of, it is better to be made mocked at for loving the LORD, than being a thief or a murderer, or a liar. If I am ever made fun of because I love the LORD, I will praise His name. Because that means that he is being shown through me, and that I am ministering for Him through my actions

1 Peter 5:1-11

In my Bible, this segment is entitled TO Elders and Young Men and while I am neither, I still found it a powerful text. I liked how it said to humble yourself to your elders, and to be and example to others. Sometimes, when I am at school, church, or even out on the street, I see children, or even adults who have not behavior, who are rude and belligerent, and act harshly to others. Other times I see very proud people, who take self-assurance to another level. Neither of the attributes I mentioned are attractive, and this text reminded me of those times. I must remember to pray for those people who act in such a way, and to pray for myself so that I do not act in such a way. I hope everyone who reads this, pray for yourself and others, that you will be humble and an example to others.

Roman 13

This was a very interesting text. It was entitled Submission to the Authorities. It was about just that, showing respect to the people who govern us. I found it interesting because it said that the people who govern over us, are God’s servants, who are in their place to help us. It reminded me of a sermon from the crusade my church us doing (I will post on that later). This text made me think of the rulers of my country, not only that but the people who are police officers, firefighters, Senators, Representatives, and other people who are in government. Weather we like them or not, it is our responsibility to pray for them and show them respect, because GOD has a plan. With that thought, although I cannon vote, my prayer is that the person whom God wants to win this upcoming election win. I know who I like, and I want to put my personal feelings aside. I want to let everyone know, that in this time, the end of times, we need to put our personal feelings aside and just pray. Pray that GOD gives us the insight to make the right decision. Because I am not in the position to vote, I would like all those who cannot vote to pray for those who can, so that they make the right decision on who governs the United States.

Job 14:1-7

I read a little farther than the passage said, and I suggest that others do the same. This passage speaks of the judgement of man. When we die, we die, end of story. The days we have are numbered, we are not meant to live forever on this earth. That is why it is not useful to look towards men for knowledge and understanding, but to look to GOD.

Zephaniah 1-3

I was a bit confused when I read this passage because it was supposed to be uplifting, but I found it rather scary. Then I read the overview of the book, and I felt much better. The passage is about the coming of the LORD and how all his enemies and the enemies of his people will be destroyed. It makes me glad to know that GOD is on my side.

That is it for Week 40 of the Ranger book. Later today, I will move on the the Voyager book. Throughout the day I hope to have time to post some other Pathfinder things. I have some reports to write for the books, so hopefully I will get to that. I also want to talk about Oshkosh 2009.

God bless you and have a nice day.!! :) :) :)
